Interested to see what you think. The Versys has a ton of utility (on paper anyways).

mm. first impressions, F800R simply feels like a 9/8s scale of this bike.
BUT, this thing is lowered as well. Full review tmw.

Almost bought one earlier this year, but they had a BMW for stupid cheap I couldn’t refuse. The Versys is highly under rated

Sweet avocado, that’s a lot of bikes. Where do you keep them?

4 in my parents garage (2009 and 2000 SV650, 1992 Dr 650, 2011 BBMW F800r)
2 at a buddies place (2002 Shadow 750, 2002 Vulcan 1500)
and this one up here at school, outside.

Are you just compelled to buy boring commuter bikes? Or do you actually plan on riding all of them?

What are you talking about? I do ride them.
Yellow SV is for sale, DR needs to get fixxed, Black SV and BMW are down south, done for the season. this is for now.

ZX6E, so yea, depending on your market, it’s a ZZR600. In many boxes (but nearly 100% complete), stupid cheap. Leave work early to close the deal cheap.

hehe. some of my riding buddies (a pair of brothers) BOTH have that bike. I remember when we wanted to adjust the rear shock on it.
tail section looked much like yours does now.
If you need any photos of a completed bike, let me know.
also, beware of a phantom pair of plugs on the clutch side I believe it was.I have a post here asking about it. You might be able to find it.

Through the fog of a decade-plus of bad decisions, I remembered all the old tricks from my ZX6D and had the loud, heavy lump back inside the frame. Took a bit less than an hour. I was feeling froggy from that minor success and began to throw parts at the barren frame, but decided that sleeping sounded better than rushing things. Still have to organize bits anyway.
Still looking for a better copy of the service manual, but I’m half tempted to see if I can reassemble the thing from memory. It’s good to challenge oneself in one’s old age. I’d like my mind to be active when I auger myself into a wall at 120+mph.

How many small- to medium-sized potatoes can you store in the luggage and what kind of MPG do you get? Asking for a friend...

Excellent choice - the Versys is pretty much as close to a modern KLR as you can get. I had a Ninja 650 a few moons ago, and it was a great street bike - just enough power to be fun, but not too much.

there is a modern KLR?

well, I don’t know if the term “modern” is appropriate for the KLR....

That’s pretty much the same thing they’ve been building since the 80s.
The Versys is based on the Ninja 650, which is about 10 yrs old now. Same idea, does most everything, but nothing really great. The Versys is FI as well.
